Interview about SRM geoengineering on BBC Radio 4's Inside Science
With the UN Environment Assembly considering a proposal to set up an expert group on Solar Radiation Management (SRM), BBC Radio 4 wanted to record a discussion about the science behind SRM.
Just a quick note to point you towards this discussion on BBC Radio 4’s Inside Science. Prof. Joanna Haigh and I discussed the science behind SRM, the challenges and reasons for concern it raises, and disagreed on whether it’s a good idea to keep this option on the table.
This was quite a long segment and it was great to have the time to discuss this difficult issue in some depth.
Figure 1. George Orwell’s quote appears outside BBC’s Broadcasting House in London, and resonated with me as I went to discuss this controversial topic.
Another one…
I also appeared on NPR’s Weekend Edition back in December in a shorter 4-minute segment on SRM.
